Efficient conversion of night-blooming giant water lily into bioethanol and biogas

This study aimed to characterize and evaluate an inedible giant water lily as a bioenergy feedstock. The conversion of organics can produce renewable energy. Composition indicated that is excellent feedstock for bioethanol biogas production. Fermentation effluent wastes from anaerobic digestion were transformed directly into ethanol using alkali pretreatment. Under mild operating conditions, alkaline pretreatment with NaOH enhanced output. Anaerobic yielded methane content 62.44% cow dung inoculum. highest ever achieved was yield 4.82 g/L digested after only 24 hours fermentation. pretreated materials then enzymatically hydrolyzed, fermented ethanol. Furthermore, co-digestion in plants may be economically advantageous biorefineries because the by-products (digestate) are obtained within biorefinery itself acceptable external feedstocks
